In the US, shops sold less in May, going down by 0.9%, after a small drop in April, said the Commerce Department. This may be because fewer people bought cars, after many bought them in March to avoid new taxes on imported cars. Even though people are less sure about the future, steady prices and many jobs might keep people spending money. If you don't count things like petrol, cars, and restaurants, sales went up a bit last month. This shows people are still buying some things they want but don't need. Some shops, like online shops, clothes shops, and furniture shops, sold more. The drop in sales may be because people worry about higher prices because of Trump's taxes.
