Important people from the U.S. and China have agreed to start their trade talks again. They had some problems that almost stopped the talks.

The announcement happened after two days of talks in London. These talks finished late on Tuesday.

The meetings were about solving arguments over selling minerals and technology. These arguments had made a recent trade agreement from Geneva weak. We don't know if they made any progress on the main problem: China sells much more to the US than it buys.

First, we had to get rid of the negative feelings. Now we can go forward, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told reporters after the meetings.

Stocks in Asia went up on Wednesday because they heard about the agreement.

The talks happened after a phone call between President Trump and China's leader, Xi Jinping, last week. They spoke to try and make things calmer.

Li Chenggang, a Chinese official, said that China and the other country agreed on a plan. This plan will help them do what they talked about on the phone and in Geneva, according to Xinhua News Agency.

We don't have more information right now about what happens next, or if they will meet again.

Li and Wang Wentao, who is China's commerce minister, were with Vice Premier He Lifeng's group. They met with Lutnick, Scott Bessent, who is the Treasury Secretary, and Jamieson Greer, who is the Trade Representative. They met at Lancaster House, an old house near Buckingham Palace that is about 200 years old.

Wendy Cutler, a former U.S. negotiator, said that 30 of the 90 days were wasted because of the arguments. The two sides still have some time to try to solve their problems.

In Geneva, they agreed to stop most of the very high taxes they had put on each other for 90 days. This was because of a growing trade problem that made people afraid of a bad economy. Also, the World Bank said on Tuesday that because of these trade problems, the U.S. and world economy might not grow as much as they thought this year.

Cutler, from the Asia Society Policy Institute, said that the U.S. and China wasted time in fixing their agreements in Geneva. He also said they only have two months left to talk about important problems like unfair trade, making too many things, sending goods through other countries, and the drug fentanyl.

After their meeting, the U.S. and China argued about several things. They disagreed about special computer parts for AI, visas for Chinese students in America, and important minerals used in cars and other businesses.

China makes a lot of rare earths. They might give out export permits for these materials more quickly. China wants the U.S. to let them use the technology to make good computer chips.

Lutnick said that fixing the rare earths problem is a main part of their agreement. He also said that the U.S. will stop some things it did because of this problem, but he didn't say which ones.

He said that when they approve the licenses, it will be easier to export our products.

Cutler said it would be very unusual for the U.S. to discuss its export rules. She said China has been complaining about these rules for almost 20 years because they cause problems.

She said that because of this, the U.S. has allowed China to suggest adding rules about exports to future discussions.

A court in Washington said on Tuesday that the government can keep collecting extra taxes on products from China and other countries. This is happening while the government tries to change a decision about Trump's trade rules.

Trump said he wants to sell more American products in China, because China makes many things for the world.

Trump said at the White House, "If we don't work with China, maybe we won't do anything. But we want to work with China."
