Paris police made a night curfew on Monday.
It covers two areas of the city.
The aim is to stop more violence.
There was bad rioting across France at the weekend.
The unrest hit city halls and other public buildings.
It also hit thousands of businesses.
The curfew covers Place de la République.
Rioting happened there on Saturday.
It also covers the Les Halles shopping district.
Looting happened there.
The curfew runs from 11 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Gatherings and demonstrations are banned from 8 p.m.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu earlier called for "very limited" and "localized" curfews.
In northern France, local authorities made night curfews for people under 18.
This is in several cities, including Lille.
It starts Monday and lasts two days.
Nice also made a night curfew for minors from 9 p.m.
Lecornu defended the police response.
He said the violence was severe and the damage was big.
But he said no one was killed.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez offered his resignation on Sunday.
President Emmanuel Macron refused it.
Macron's office said the refusal showed the need for continued command of law enforcement.
Macron also asked Nuñez to be fully open about failures in planning and intelligence-gathering.
He called for new policing tactics on the ground as fast as possible.
Nuñez said he resigned because he was responsible for what was happening.
He also said authorities had "lost control" in some major cities on Saturday.
The violence followed nationwide protests on Saturday.
People protested against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools.
At least 2,400 people were arrested.
Authorities estimated that at least 3,000 businesses were damaged or looted.
In Limoges, flames engulfed the 19th-century City Hall.
The fire caused its roof to collapse.
Jordan Bardella is president of the far-right National Rally party.
He said the government had failed in its duty to protect the French people.
