On Friday night, Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel, and some are believed to have hit Tel Aviv. The Israeli military states that they stopped most of the missiles, but some still hit buildings. Hospitals in Tel Aviv are treating 15 civilians who were injured in the attack. This attack is a significant challenge for Israel's air defense system, which has been stopping rockets from several countries since the war started on October 7, 2023. The US has been helping to shoot down Iranian missiles using ground-based defense systems. However, Israel has mostly managed its own defense over the past year with its advanced system. This system can detect incoming rockets and activate when a rocket is heading towards populated or important areas. Israel's air defense has different parts: the Arrow, for long-range missiles; David's Sling, for medium-range missiles; and the Iron Dome, for short-range rockets. Israel is also developing the Iron Beam, which will use laser technology to stop threats.
