A new AP-NORC/AAPI Data poll finds that Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander adults are less hopeful about President Donald Trump.
They also feel less positive about Republicans before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
The survey took place Sept. 8-15.
It gives Democrats a big lead on major issues like the economy and health care.
About one-quarter of AAPI adults approve of Trump's overall job performance.
Only about 2 in 10 approve of how he handles the economy.
Most AAPI adults see the economy as a top election issue.
Trump's economic approval among this group has dropped about 10 percentage points over the year.
His favorable rating fell from about 4 in 10 in late 2024 to about 3 in 10 now.
Karthick Ramakrishnan of AAPI Data said Trump's post-election honeymoon "has now largely disappeared."
About 9 in 10 AAPI adults rank the economy as one of the most important issues for the election.
About 8 in 10 say this about the cost of living.
About 7 in 10 name health care.
Only about half say this about foreign policy, crime, immigration, election fairness or climate change.
In a March 2025 poll, Democrats and Republicans were even on the economy and immigration.
Now Democrats have a lead of about 20 points on both.
Still, views of the Democratic Party itself are split.
About 48% of AAPI adults have an unfavorable impression of it, while 44% have a favorable one.
About two-thirds view the GOP unfavorably.
Rebecca Larocco is a Korean American in Iowa.
She is leaning Republican but is unsure about Trump's economic handling.
The Iran war is raising gas prices.
Len Takahashi is a conservative in Texas.
He said he is open to candidates who put the economy first.
Many AAPI adults are also worried about misinformation, legal challenges to results and voter suppression.
