Learning Resources Inc., an Illinois-based toy company, has taken its legal challenge against President Trump's tariffs to the Supreme Court. They argue that he imposed these tariffs unlawfully, using emergency powers without congressional approval. Although the company previously won a case in a lower court, the tariffs remain in effect because an appeals court is reviewing a similar ruling, which allows Trump to continue collecting them. Learning Resources emphasizes the urgency of the case, citing the significant negative impact of the tariffs on businesses and consumers. CEO Rick Woldenberg asserts that the tariffs are creating considerable uncertainty and driving up prices. The company's legal team has suggested that the court could decide to hear the case before June and then listen to arguments in the autumn. Conversely, the Trump administration defends the tariffs, contending that the emergency powers law permits the president to regulate imports during national emergencies.
