Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said she will continue the Trump administration's strict immigration enforcement, even though there are ongoing protests. This happened after a federal judge issued a temporary order saying it was illegal to send National Guard troops to protests. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals then stopped this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent after protests started because of the immigration crackdown. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping in immigration raids, praised the judge's order. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president's actions, saying he acted within his legal powers. Protests are still happening across the country, and immigration agents in Los Angeles have created a way for other communities to follow. Despite this, Noem has repeated that federal authorities will not give up.
