Brad Lander, the New York City Comptroller and a Democratic mayoral candidate, was arrested by federal agents at an immigration court. This happened after he tried to stop them from detaining someone. Lander was at the federal building in Manhattan to watch immigration court hearings. When agents tried to arrest a man leaving a courtroom, Lander linked arms with him and asked to see a judicial warrant. The agents eventually pulled them apart and arrested Lander. After he was released, Lander said he was just trying to peacefully protest against Trump's immigration policies. This arrest is happening while there's a national increase in many arrests outside immigration courts. Other Democratic candidates and politicians have criticized Lander's arrest.
