Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has promised to continue the Trump administration's strict immigration enforcement, even though there are ongoing public protests. This happened after a federal judge issued a temporary order, saying it was illegal to send National Guard troops to protests. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later stopped this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent after protests started because of the immigration crackdown. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping with immigration actions, praised the judge's decision. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president’s actions, saying he acted within his legal rights. Protests are still happening across the country, with immigration officials in Los Angeles setting an example for other areas. Despite this, Noem has repeated that federal agencies will not give up.
