For the first time, some parts of Alaska will get a heat warning. The weather service will now use this new warning instead of "special weather statements." This change helps people understand how serious and dangerous the weather can be. The first warning was for Fairbanks, where it was expected to be over 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This is not normal for June. This new warning is not about climate change. It just means that hot weather can affect Alaska, especially places without air conditioning. Right now, only Juneau and Fairbanks can use these warnings. But soon, Anchorage might use them too. Even though it's warm in Anchorage, it's not hot enough yet for a heat warning.
