A new report says that if the US tax bill becomes law, poor Americans might lose about $1,600 every year. Rich families, however, could get around $12,000 more each year. People with average incomes might get $500 to $1,000 more yearly. The bill would cut money for programs like Medicaid and food help, which affects poor people. It also says that people might need to work or do community service to get food aid and Medicaid. Some people, like Scott Bessent, do not agree with this report. They say that if the bill does not pass, the economy could have big problems. But the report also says that money from taxes on imported goods would pay for the tax bill.
