Innenministerin Kristi Noem hat angekündigt, die strenge Einwanderungspolitik der vorherigen Regierung trotz anhaltender Proteste fortzusetzen. Ein Richter hatte den Einsatz der Nationalgarde bei den Protesten vorübergehend verboten, aber ein höheres Gericht hat diese Entscheidung schnell wieder aufgehoben. Das Verbot des Richters galt nur für die Nationalgarde, nicht aber für die Marineinfanterie, die nach Beginn der Proteste gegen die Einwanderungskontrollen eingesetzt wurde. Gouverneur Gavin Newsom, der sich für einen sofortigen Stopp der Truppen bei Einwanderungsrazzien eingesetzt hatte, begrüßte die ursprüngliche Gerichtsentscheidung. Die Sprecherin des Weißen Hauses, Anna Kelly, verteidigte das Vorgehen des Präsidenten und erklärte, er habe innerhalb seiner Befugnisse gehandelt. Die Proteste gehen landesweit weiter, wobei die Vorgehensweise der Einwanderungsbehörden in Los Angeles als Beispiel für andere Städte dient. Trotzdem hat Noem bekräftigt, dass die Bundesbehörden ihre Strategie nicht ändern werden.
