Many people in other countries will think Leo's election is good.

Pope Leo is from America and is known around the world.

People were surprised and happy about the new cardinal. Then they talked about how two Americans could be the leaders.

Trump likes to be number one. Many American Catholics voted for Trump.

Trump shared a picture of himself like a pope. Some people were not happy. Trump said it was a joke. He said Catholics liked it.

But Trump said good things to Leo and said it was a great honor because the new pope was American.

People said Pope Leo is like a politician. He is calm. He talked to the other church leaders in small groups before the big meeting. He was born in Chicago. But he lived in Peru for 20 years, helping people. Then, in 2023, Pope Francis chose him for an important job in the church. He helps choose new bishops around the world.

Popes often talk about world problems.

Leo is thinking about the media, like Trump.

Trump and the Pope are leaders, but they are very different.

In February, Leo shared a story from a Catholic magazine. The story said, "Jesus wants us to love everyone equally."

This happened after Vance talked about people coming to the country. He said a Christian idea is to love your family first, then your neighbors, then your community, then people in your country, and then others.

Leo spoke Italian to many people. He said the church must work together. It must be open and welcome people.

Vance said the Pope's job is more important than politics and the internet. He said the Church is very old and does not fit with today's politics. He thinks it is good if the Church helps people with their souls.

A man said religion and politics are different because they want different things.

Francis and Cardinal Prevost were bishops. They taught about the Gospel. They said the Gospel helps poor and suffering people. This is not what Trump does as president.

Does Pope Leo think like people in America?

People who study things say Leo lived in Peru for many years. He is from Peru and his other country. This helps him understand people, power, religion, and politics better.

Leo and Trump are different. Leo wants to help poor people first. Trump did not help. In his first speech, Leo did not talk about America or speak English. Some people think this means he cares about people all over the world.

Leo is the first pope from the U.S.A. But it is better to say he is the second pope from the Americas. Pope Francis was the first.

He said the pope helps the world by talking to people. He does not stay alone.

Some American cardinals say Leo is not very American. Trump was there.

Six American leaders spoke after the Pope was chosen.

Someone asked if the cardinals chose Leo because of Trump. Many people said no.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan said his brother cardinals thought he was like other people.

The cardinals knew about things in the US. They chose someone to help people believe more.
