Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has built a following among Americans.

These people worry about corporate influence over vaccines, drugs, processed foods and pesticides.

But last week, the leader of the "Make America Healthy Again" movement backed a different industry: artificial intelligence.

At a MAHA summit with AI and Silicon Valley executives, Kennedy spoke about the technology.

He said it would free Americans from "medical tyranny."

It would let them check their own medical advice.

Some well-known MAHA voices criticized this move.

They said the movement's leaders are getting close to the corporate interests they once questioned.

Medical experts also said Kennedy's idea of AI is flawed.

They say AI cannot really check the medical establishment.

Dr. Zeke Emanuel is a cancer specialist and bioethicist at the University of Pennsylvania.

He said Kennedy "obviously doesn't understand how AI works."

He said AI gathers information from medical literature and case studies.

So users are really getting medical expertise.

HHS spokesperson Emily Hilliard said Emanuel was describing "one narrow use" of the technology.

She said Kennedy wants to give Americans more control of their health data.

She said AI will help doctors work faster and spend more time with patients.

OpenAI and Anthropic sponsored the summit.

More than a dozen other companies also sponsored it.

These companies have business before the U.S. government.

Sponsors paid up to $300,000, and many got speaking slots.

Dr. Robert Malone is a vaccine researcher.

He recently served on a federal vaccine panel under Kennedy.

He called it "classic pay-to-play."

He and others said the summit showed big companies replacing the grassroots activists.

Those activists built the movement.

Tony Lyons runs the MAHA Center and related groups.

He said the goal was to build the biggest movement possible.

Kennedy's alliance with Silicon Valley fits broader Trump administration efforts.

President Donald Trump has resisted oversight of AI companies.

Dr. Mehmet Oz and other officials have promoted AI as a fix for U.S. health problems.
