He said Trump talked to Apple directly.

He said the new name will come soon.

Apple did not say anything.

Its maps still showed "Lake Ontario" on Monday afternoon.

Google Maps made the change already.

It did this for U.S. users over the weekend.

The company said it followed Trump's new order.

It also followed its policy.

The policy uses names from the U.S. Geographic Names Information System.

Google said U.S. users will see "Lake America."

Canadian users will see "Lake Ontario."

Users in other places will see both names.

Trump signed the order on Friday.

He renamed the lake during his trade war with Canada.

This move is one of his new provocations.

Tariffs rise on both sides of the border.

The president cannot force Canada to accept the name.

The Seneca Nation's leader called it a violation of a treaty.

The treaty is over 225 years old.

He called it "blatant disrespect" for Indigenous people.

This is not Trump's first try to rename a body of water.

The water is outside U.S. borders.

Last year, he ordered the Gulf of Mexico renamed.

The new name is the Gulf of America.

Apple and Google later updated that name on their U.S. maps.
