Meta is putting $14.3 billion into an AI company called Scale. They have also hired Scale's CEO, Alexandr Wang, to join Meta's team that develops advanced AI. This is part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make Meta's AI better, so they can compete more effectively with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will still work on its own, but this agreement will greatly increase the business connection between the two companies. Meta will now own 49% of Scale. Wang will move to Meta with a small group of people, but he will stay on Scale's board. Jason Droege will become the temporary CEO. This investment means Scale is now worth over $29 billion. It is not clear what this deal will mean for Scale's other customers, like General Motors, Toyota, and several big companies that provide large language models.
