Meta is putting $14.3 billion into the AI company Scale and has hired its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to work on Meta's advanced AI team. This is part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make Meta's AI better, as it competes with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will stay its own company, but this agreement will make the business connection between them much stronger, giving Meta almost half of Scale. Wang will move to Meta with a small group but will still be on Scale's board; Jason Droege will take over as the temporary CEO. Because of this investment, Scale is now worth more than $29 billion. It's not clear what this deal will mean for Scale's other clients, such as General Motors, Toyota, and several big companies that create large language models.
