OpenAI expects to give less money to Microsoft by 2030 than it does now, according to a report based on financial papers.
This week, OpenAI changed their plan. The part of the company that makes money will become a special type of company called a public benefit corporation (PBC). But the part that does not make money will still be in charge.
OpenAI gives 20% of its money to Microsoft now. By the year 2030, OpenAI wants to give 10% of its money to companies it works with, like Microsoft. A report from The Information said this.
Microsoft gave a lot of money to OpenAI. They have a deal until 2030 to share the money they make. Microsoft can use OpenAI's ideas in its AI products. Microsoft is also the only one that can use OpenAI's tools on Azure.
Bloomberg said on Monday that Microsoft has not yet said yes to how OpenAI wants to set up its company. Microsoft wants to be sure its big investment is safe.
OpenAI and Microsoft did not answer right away when people asked them what they thought.
