Bad website 4chan had a computer problem on Tuesday.
The website did not work. People on social media said it was down for many hours.
People on another website were happy about the computer problem. One person said the hacker was in the computer system for more than a year.
Pictures online show parts of the website 4chan that only special people can see. These people can delete messages and threads.
4chan is linked to violent politics. This attack might show who controls these online groups. These groups are important for some right-wing movements.
TechCrunch sent emails to people from the list and talked to one person. That person said the information is real.
"I think it is true," the janitor said.
The worker said, "I am surprised. 4chan had leaks before, but this is a big problem. I am not happy. Many people are not happy. But we worked here for a long time. People often share private information on 4chan. We knew this could happen."
The janitor said, 'I worry about the secret information.'
The worker for the website said a bad person took private information from people who pay for a special pass.
4chan did not write back to an email.
