People at Meta thought TikTok was better than them.
A paper from February 2022 shows what people at Meta said. They talked about Facebook and Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook was not strong and needed to improve. He said TikTok was good because friends saw the same things and felt connected.
Mosseri said people use Facebook less to find things now.
Adam said TikTok is better than Facebook at showing videos.
One study said people watched TikTok videos more than YouTube videos in 2021.
This week, Netflix added short videos to its phone app.
But the government says Meta broke rules when they bought Instagram and WhatsApp.
Zuckerberg said many people use Facebook, but they don't use it for a long time.
He said TikTok helps friends feel close. They see the same videos if they like the same things.
The boss said, 'It's easy for friends. You don't need to send it. Your friends can see it. If we can do this with different topics on Facebook, it will be good.'
Other managers also gave their opinions.
The boss of WhatsApp said that if you write a comment on a TikTok video, TikTok will show you more videos like it.
Stan from Meta said other companies were taking their customers.
Adding something new is not enough now. People use many other apps.
John said TikTok is good for short videos. He thinks Meta can be good too if people put their videos on Reels.
But he said he did not know if Meta was behind with computers and tools. Meta thinks Facebook is not the best in social media.
This paper is not the only one in the trial. It shows Meta is scared of other companies.
