Injuries are already piling up just two games into the NFL season, and it is not even Sunday yet.
Sam Darnold played only five snaps, A.J. Brown will miss time, and De’Zhaun Stribling was carted off the field.
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Thursday that Darnold’s hip injury brought positive news.
He called it a muscle injury near the hip.
He said the team will know more about Darnold’s status for the Sept. 20 game against Arizona when practice resumes next week.
Drew Lock replaced Darnold and led Seattle to a 13-10 comeback win over New England on Wednesday night.
Macdonald said Lock has been tremendous and operates like a starter.
The Patriots will be without Brown for a while.
A person with knowledge of the injury said Thursday night that Brown has a high-ankle sprain, confirmed by an MRI.
He could miss three to six games depending on how his ankle responds to treatment.
Without Brown, New England’s offense struggled.
It went three-and-out twice before Drake Maye threw three straight interceptions.
Maye said the team has to stick together and that he has to keep putting better football out there.
Stribling, San Francisco’s top draft pick in April at No. 33 overall, limped off after running a route in the second quarter of a 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
He left on a cart and was quickly ruled out.
The 49ers were counting on him after losing Ricky Pearsall for the season in the summer.
