Shohei Ohtani, the well-known Japanese baseball player, has become only the third player in the history of the Dodgers team to hit 20 home runs within the first 55 games of a season. This impressive achievement places Ohtani alongside Gil Hodges and Cody Bellinger. Furthermore, it marks the 64th time a player in Major League Baseball has accomplished this in the same timeframe, and the first since Pete Alonso of the New York Mets did so in 2023. Ohtani, who has been named MVP three times and is currently leading the major leagues in home runs, scored with a two-run hit during a game against the Cleveland Guardians. This is the fourth occasion this season that Ohtani has hit a home run to the opposite side of the field.
