Freddie Freeman got two singles and a triple when the bases were full, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won against the Miami Marlins 10-1 on Wednesday.
Freeman helped his team score four times and has now hit in 12 games in a row. The Dodgers, who are the best team in Major League Baseball, won their fourth series in a row by winning two out of three games in Miami. Freeman had a great series, getting 8 hits in 13 tries, scoring 6 runs for the team, and hitting two home runs.
On Wednesday, Shohei Ohtani hit a triple and walked three times. One of the walks was given to him on purpose in the seventh inning when his team scored six runs against the pitcher Lake Bachar.
Substitute player James Outman increased the Dodgers' lead with a three-run home run in the ninth inning.
Landon Knack, who had just joined the team from Triple-A Oklahoma City, had a great game as a pitcher, giving up only four hits and no points, and getting five strikeouts. Another player, Matt Sauer, came in after Knack and finished the game by pitching the last four innings, which was his first time saving a game for the team.
Miami's starting pitcher, Valente Bellozo, had a great game. He only allowed one hit and struck out seven batters in 5 1/3 innings with no runs scored. Cade Gibson took over for him in the sixth inning, before Bellozo had to face Ohtani again. Ohtani then hit a triple off Gibson (0-1) in the next turn at bat.
New catcher Augustin Ramirez hit one single and one double for the Marlins (14-22), who have won only 2 of their last 11 games.
Jesús Sánchez hit a single in the sixth inning and his sacrifice fly in the ninth brought in Miami's only run.
The Dodgers took control of the game in the seventh inning against Bachar. He allowed players to walk to first base and hit singles, which brought in runs. Bachar then intentionally walked Ohtani and Betts when all the bases were occupied. Freeman hit a triple, which brought in all the runners, and another single brought in more runs.
The Dodgers got only one hit in the first five innings against Bellozo, but then they got eleven hits from four other Miami pitchers.
The Dodgers start a four-game series in Arizona on Thursday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, a right-handed pitcher with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses and an earned run average of 0.90, will pitch for them. The Marlins do not play on Thursday. Then, Max Meyer, another right-handed pitcher with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses and an earned run average of 3.92, will start the first game of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
