Selma Blair was taken into custody following a flight from Los Angeles to New York, after allegedly behaving abusively and injuring two flight attendants, according to authorities on Monday.

Blair, 54, was taken into custody late Sunday night, when the Delta Air Lines plane was parked at the gate at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement.

There was no immediate response to a request for comment from the airline.

According to the Port Authority, Blair, accompanied by one of the flight attendants, was conveyed to a hospital for evaluation.

The FBI is conducting an investigation, according to the statement.

Requests for comment were left with the FBI and with state and federal prosecutors' offices in New York.

A request for comment left with Blair's publicist went unanswered at the time of writing.

In a statement to several media outlets, a representative for Blair said she had a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.

Blair portrayed significant roles in a number of films, among them the 1999 release “Cruel Intentions,” the 2001 production “Legally Blonde” and the 2004 picture “Hellboy.”

In recent years, she has emerged as a prominent advocate for disability rights.

Having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, she went on to join President Joe Biden at the White House in 2023 to commemorate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
