The Emmy Awards will move to Prime Video in 2027.
Amazon and the Television Academy made a deal.
They announced it on Tuesday.
The deal is for six years.
This ends a long run on broadcast TV.
The show was on broadcast TV every year since 1955.
For 30 years, the Emmys moved between four networks.
They were ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
People called this the "Wheel Deal."
Cris Abrego leads the Television Academy.
He said one big reason was continuity.
He said the old rotation meant the Academy was "starting over every year."
The Emmys will still be free to watch.
You will not need a Prime Video subscription.
The Oscars will also move to YouTube.
But that deal starts in 2029.
This deal starts right away.
Mike Hopkins leads Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.
He said the company wants a bigger and younger audience.
Emmy viewership was over 20 million at its peak.
Now it is around 7 million.
Abrego said the Academy wants reach and access.
He felt Amazon matched that goal.
