Actor Hayden Panettiere died from a drug overdose.

A coroner in South Carolina said this on Tuesday.

The overdose was an accident.

She took several drugs.

One drug was fentanyl.

She was 36 years old.

People found Panettiere in an apartment.

The apartment is in Greenville, South Carolina.

This happened on Aug. 16.

She did not respond.

Her boyfriend Brian Hickerson was there.

His brother Zach Hickerson was there too.

They were on and off as a couple.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office spoke.

Her body had fentanyl in it.

It also had a chemical from fentanyl.

It had alprazolam.

That is a drug for anxiety.

It had a muscle relaxer.

It had a drug for deep sadness.

That drug also treats other bad mental health problems.

The office did not share more from the autopsy report.

A family publicist spoke.

Her name is Kasey Kitchen.

She said the case is still open.

She said the case is complex.

Greenville Police said their work is still going.

Paramedics got a 911 call.

They did CPR.

They tried other ways to bring her back.

They tried for more than 40 minutes.

Then people said Panettiere was dead.

Coroner Mike Ellis spoke.

He said the autopsy found no signs of harm.

That harm did not cause her death.

A police report listed her medicines.

But the drug names were covered up.

Panettiere became famous on TV.

She was in "Heroes."

She was in "Nashville."

She wrote a book called "This Is Me."

The book came out in May.

She wrote about pain from early fame.

She had this pain all her life.

She said she was addicted to alcohol.

She had postpartum depression.

That came after her daughter Kaya was born in 2014.

Her younger brother was actor Jansen Panettiere.

He died of a heart problem in 2023.

He was 28.

She also talked about Brian Hickerson.

He was charged in 2020.

He faced many counts of felony abuse.

He pleaded no contest to two counts.

The counts were for hurting a spouse or partner.

He went to jail for a short time.

Then he had four years of probation.
