In June, people felt more positive about the economy for the first time in six months. This is because prices are stable, and the US government made a temporary trade deal with China. This information comes from an early report by the University of Michigan, which showed that consumer confidence went up by 16%, from 52.2 to 60.5. However, it is still 20% lower than in December 2024. This increase happened after the President decided to delay new taxes on goods from many countries and made a temporary agreement with China. This has helped to reduce some of the worries about the economy caused by the trade war. Even with this good news, US taxes on imported goods are still high compared to the past and are expected to affect the economy more in the next few months. People's confidence in the economy is also different depending on their political views. Republicans feel more confident about the economy under the current government than Democrats. But this month, confidence generally increased among supporters of both parties and people who don't support any party. The Federal Reserve will likely see the drop in people's expectations for rising prices as a good sign at their next meeting.
