Asian markets started Friday with lower numbers after Israel attacked near Tehran. This event made people more worried about Iran's nuclear program, causing oil prices to go up a lot, with both U.S. and Brent crude oil increasing significantly. Major stock indexes in Tokyo (Nikkei 225), Seoul (Kospi), Hong Kong (Hang Seng), Shanghai (Shanghai Composite Index), and Australia (S&P/ASX 200) all went down. However, Xu Tiachen from The Economist Intelligence thinks Asian markets will recover quickly. This is because they are not very involved in the conflict and have stronger connections with stable countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. At the same time, U.S. stock indexes went up on Thursday after good news about inflation. This positive inflation report caused government bond yields to drop, suggesting the Federal Reserve might lower interest rates later this year. Despite these good changes, people are still concerned about how Trump's tariffs, which are sometimes on and sometimes off, might affect inflation and if there could be a recession.
