President Trump's tax plan is getting a lot of criticism because many people are worried it will make the national debt much bigger. A lot of people, including Republican senators, investors, voters, and Elon Musk, are concerned that the plan won't actually lower the debt as it promised. The White House disagrees, saying that the tax and spending cuts, which will add more than $5 trillion to the national debt in the next ten years, will help the economy grow and reduce the debt compared to the total size of the economy. However, most economists think the plan won't create enough growth to pay for the extra debt. Also, these tax and spending cuts are planned to end in 2028, which could cause problems for future politicians. The White House hopes that money from tariffs will pay for the additional debt, but recent court decisions have made this plan uncertain.
