JetZero, a company from California, plans to build a new factory in North Carolina to make its advanced passenger plane. This project is expected to create more than 14,500 jobs in the area over the next ten years. The company plans to spend $4.7 billion on a factory at Greensboro's airport to produce its Z4 aircraft. This plane has a special wing design that is expected to use up to 50% less fuel than regular airplanes. United Airlines and Alaska Airlines have already invested in the project and have agreed to buy the planes. The project also includes a research center for new materials and might receive over $2.35 billion in financial help from the state and local government by the 2060s. JetZero wants its planes to be flying by the early 2030s, with a plan to make 20 aircraft each month. At first, the company will focus on a commercial plane that can hold about 250 passengers and can travel 5,000 nautical miles.
