Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to divide its cable TV channels from its streaming service. This will create two separate companies because more and more people are canceling their cable subscriptions. The streaming and studios company will include popular brands like HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios. The cable company will have channels such as CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, and well-known free TV channels in Europe, along with digital products like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, will lead the Streaming & Studios company. Gunnar Wiedenfels, the CFO, will become the CEO of the cable company, which will be called Global Networks. They expect this separation to be finished by the middle of next year, if the board approves it. This important change is happening because the cable industry is facing difficulties due to the rise of streaming services and other internet choices.
