European businesses are cutting costs and investing less in China. This is due to a slower economy and strong competition, which is making prices fall. A yearly survey by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China shared this information. The Chinese economy is slowing down, made worse by a property crisis and more resistance from Europe and the US to Chinese exports. This has negatively affected these businesses. The survey shows that government support has led to too much investment in areas like electric vehicles, creating more supply than demand. This extra supply has caused strong price competition and made companies look for markets outside China. In Europe, people are worried that more imports from China could harm local industries and jobs. The EU has responded by adding taxes on Chinese electric vehicles, saying that China provides unfair government help. The survey also indicates that businesses are less confident and making less profit.
