Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in New York on Thursday.
He came for the United Nations General Assembly.
He has no plans to meet U.S. President Donald Trump.
He will not even be in the same city.
The two leaders started the year as friends.
They promised to stand together against Iran.
But now they disagree about the war.
Netanyahu now faces criticism from around the world.
People criticize Israel's war in Gaza.
They also criticize settler violence in the West Bank.
He will meet only a few leaders before his speech.
Many people in Washington link him to the Iran fight.
That fight is not popular.
Trump does not want to look forced into a war.
He once called it a "little excursion."
This is Netanyahu's first trip like this in three years.
Israel started the Gaza war three years ago.
It began after the Hamas-led attacks of Oct. 7, 2023.
He faces an election next month.
Many people see it as a vote on his handling of the attacks.
Many world leaders at the summit criticized Israel's actions in Gaza.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged his arrest.
He cited an International Criminal Court warrant.
The warrant is for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The U.S. is not a member of the court.
The city cannot arrest him.
Netanyahu often uses props in his speeches.
He speaks fluent English.
His speeches aim mainly at Israeli voters at home.
Michael Oren is a former Israeli ambassador to the U.S.
He said Netanyahu times his speech for Israeli primetime.
But experts say the lack of big meetings could hurt him.
Eytan Gilboa is an expert on U.S.-Israel relations.
He called the trip a mistake.
He said it shows Netanyahu's weaknesses.
He said no Trump meeting shows poor management of ties.
The U.S. is Israel's strongest ally.
In 2023, President Joe Biden met Netanyahu at the summit.
Biden did not really want to.
Gilboa said Israel cannot survive without the United States.
