These workers are believed to be trapped inside tunnels at hydropower projects in Nepal.

About 900 workers are missing from 12 projects.

In Kathmandu, police buried many bodies in long holes next to a forested area.

Authorities are using temporary graves until bodies can be identified.

They are keeping DNA samples, taking photos of faces, and giving each body a number.

At least 11,814 people have been rescued so far, Nepalese authorities said.

The disaster started when a glacial collapse sent rock, ice and meltwater into valleys.

This caused powerful floods.

Scientists said the rockfall was a magnitude 5.2 seismic event.

Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah said the disaster showed that risks in the Himalayan region are growing with climate change.

He said it is time to raise the issue strongly before the international community.
