Russia launched a big attack on nine Ukrainian cities overnight.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv through Thursday morning.

The Russian Defense Ministry called the strikes "massive."

It said they hit military-related places, like industrial sites, oil refineries, and port infrastructure.

Civilian areas were also hit.

Ukrainian officials reported two deaths, including a 78-year-old woman in the Zaporizhzhia region.

At least 14 people were wounded.

In Kyiv, four districts were struck.

The attacks damaged homes, a school, and a medical center, but no one was hurt there.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia keeps spending on missiles and making the war bigger.

So Ukraine needs more countermeasures.

He noted that Europe has promised more air defense help.

He also asked for more ballistic missile defense systems bought from the United States.

Ukraine's air force said it shot down or stopped seven Russian ballistic missiles.

Russia also hit three big distribution centers.

These included depots for a toy store chain and a candy company.

A glide bomb attack forced a heat and power plant in the Kherson region to close.

In Moldova, five drones entered its airspace overnight, but the source was not named.

Ukraine's General Staff said its own strikes hit Russian command posts near Donetsk.

Russia said it shot down 267 Ukrainian drones over 14 regions.
