After President Javier Milei stopped a government agency (DADSE) that provided expensive cancer medications, a secret Facebook group was created. This group connects people who have extra medicine with those who need it. Milei's budget cuts have significantly impacted Argentina's public health system. The healthcare budget was cut by 48%, many Health Ministry employees were fired, and programs for early cancer detection and vaccinations were stopped. As a result, the cost of prescription medicines increased by 250%, and private health plans by 118%. Also, medical coverage for older people was greatly reduced. Argentina's healthcare is becoming more like the U.S. system because there isn't healthcare for everyone and costs are higher. Milei's staff cuts also made it difficult to plan vaccinations and collect health information. This happened at the same time as the country's first measles outbreak in decades. The cuts have also led to an increase in sexually transmitted infections, with HIV cases going up by 20% and syphilis cases by 50%. It is reported that over 60 cancer patients have died because the DADSE medicine program was stopped, and more than 1,500 patients are still waiting for their medicines.
