Ukraine's Security Service announced that a drone attack destroyed more than 40 Russian planes inside Russia, while Moscow continued its missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. This attack was reportedly planned for over a year and a half and was directly overseen by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The operation involved secretly bringing first-person view drones into Russia, where they were placed in mobile wooden shelters. At the right moment, the drones were launched to target Russian bombers. This attack is believed to have destroyed 34% of Russia’s air missile carrier fleet, causing an estimated $7 billion in damages. Meanwhile, ongoing peace talks between Ukraine and Russia are still scheduled to take place in Istanbul. According to a senior U.S. defense official, this attack demonstrated a high level of sophistication that the U.S. had not previously observed. In response, Russia launched more drones and missiles at Ukraine, leading to the deaths of at least 12 Ukrainian soldiers and injuring over 60 others.
