Karol Nawrocki, a conservative candidate, has won the election to become Poland's president. This win might make Poland more nationalist. Nawrocki was supported by US President Donald Trump and Poland's Law and Justice party. He won with 50.89% of the votes, beating Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski in a very close election. This result could cause problems for Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government. The President can stop new laws, which might make it hard for Tusk to achieve his goals of working more closely with Europe. The election has also made Tusk's political position weaker, and some people are now asking him to resign. Nawrocki, who is a historian and a boxer, is seen as representing traditional Polish values. Donald Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated him. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave careful congratulations, focusing on unity and security.
