Egyptian archaeologists have found three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in Luxor, in an area called Dra Abu al-Naga. These tombs had writings that told about the people buried there. They belonged to important officials, including a man named Baki, who managed grain storage, and another person known as "S," who had several jobs, like working at the Temple of Amun and being a writer. The third tomb belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, who worked for Amun. Even though his tomb was mostly damaged, pictures of people carrying funeral furniture and a party were found. The ministry released photos of the items and statues found in the tombs. This discovery happened before the Grand Egyptian Museum fully opens this summer. The museum will show more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian items. Sherif Fathi, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said this find is a very important scientific and archaeological discovery that will probably help cultural tourism grow.
