After President Javier Milei stopped a government agency (DADSE) that gave expensive medicine to cancer patients, a secret Facebook group has started. This group helps connect people who have extra medicine with those who need it. Milei's strict budget cuts have greatly affected Argentina's public health system. The healthcare budget was cut by almost half, thousands of Health Ministry workers lost their jobs, and programs for early cancer detection and vaccinations were stopped. This situation has caused the prices of prescription drugs and private health plans to rise sharply, and medical coverage for retired people has been significantly reduced. Because not everyone has healthcare and costs are higher, Argentina's healthcare system is becoming more like the U.S. system. Milei's staff cuts have also made it harder to plan vaccinations and collect information, which happened at the same time as the country's first measles outbreak in many years. These cuts have also led to more sexually transmitted infections, including a 20% increase in HIV cases and a 50% increase in syphilis cases. It is reported that more than 60 cancer patients have died because the DADSE medicine program was stopped, and over 1,500 patients are still waiting for their drugs.
