Learning Resources Inc., an Illinois-based toy company, has taken its dispute over President Trump's tariffs to the Supreme Court. The company argues that he imposed these tariffs unlawfully, using an emergency law without congressional approval. Although the company previously won in a lower court, that ruling is currently on hold because an appeals court is examining a similar case. This allows President Trump to continue collecting the tariffs. Learning Resources emphasizes that the case needs urgent attention due to the tariffs' significant negative impact on businesses and consumers. CEO Rick Woldenberg states that the tariffs are creating considerable uncertainty and driving up prices. The company's lawyers have suggested that the court could decide whether to accept the case before June and hear arguments in the autumn. The Trump administration defends the tariffs, asserting that the emergency law permits the president to control imports during national emergencies.
