Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has promised to continue the Trump administration's strict immigration enforcement, even though protests are still happening. This happened after a federal judge issued a temporary order saying that sending National Guard troops to protests was illegal. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later stopped this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent after protests started because of the immigration crackdown. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping with immigration operations, praised the judge's decision. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president’s actions, saying he acted within his legal rights. Protests are still happening across the country, with immigration officials in Los Angeles creating a model for other areas. Despite this, Noem has repeated that federal authorities will not give up.
