Brad Lander, a New York City official and candidate for mayor, was arrested by federal agents at an immigration court. He linked arms with a person the authorities wanted to arrest. Lander was watching immigration court hearings in Manhattan when agents tried to detain a man leaving a courtroom. He joined arms with the man and asked to see a judge's warrant. The agents separated them and arrested Lander. After he was released, Lander said he was peacefully protesting against the previous administration's immigration policies. His arrest happened during a national increase in arrests outside immigration courts and has been criticized by other politicians.
