Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said she will continue the previous administration's strict immigration policies, even though there are ongoing protests. A federal judge issued a temporary order saying it was illegal to send National Guard troops to protests, but a higher court later stopped this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not to other military groups sent after protests started because of the immigration policies. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted to stop troops from helping with immigration arrests, supported the judge's decision. However, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president's actions, saying he acted within his legal rights. Protests are still happening across the country, and immigration agents in Los Angeles are showing other areas how to handle things. Despite this, Secretary Noem has confirmed that federal authorities will not give up.
