Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said she will continue the Trump administration's strict immigration policies, even though protests are still happening. A federal judge temporarily stopped the National Guard from being at protests, but a higher court, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, quickly overturned this decision. The judge's order only applied to the National Guard, not the Marines, who were also sent out after protests began because of the immigration policies. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted to immediately stop troops from helping with immigration arrests, supported the judge's order. Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said the president acted within his legal rights. Protests are still happening across the country, and immigration agents in Los Angeles are showing other communities how to handle similar situations. Despite this, Noem has confirmed that federal authorities will not stop.
