Elon Musk has left his job as a senior advisor to President Trump. His big plans to change the government and cut spending did not succeed. During his time, there were many job cuts, changes to government departments, and legal problems. Musk first wanted to cut $2 trillion in spending, but this was greatly reduced, first to $1 trillion, and then to just $150 billion. This caused more disagreement within the administration. Musk resigned after he criticized Trump's new laws, especially a "massive spending bill" that he believes makes the government's debt bigger. Even though he left, the White House still plans to use some of Musk's ideas for cutting costs. However, Musk has said he is disappointed with how difficult the government is to change and plans to spend less on politics.
