Mary Lou Retton, a well-known American gymnast, was arrested in West Virginia for driving under the influence. Police stopped her car on May 17 after someone reported that a Porsche was being driven unsafely. Officers noticed she smelled of alcohol, her speech was unclear, and there was a wine bottle in the passenger seat. Retton, who is 57, failed a sobriety test and refused to take a breath or blood test. She was later released from jail after paying a $1,500 bond. Her lawyer has not yet commented on the situation. This incident happened after Retton was in intensive care in 2023 because of a serious type of pneumonia.
