Trump likes to be number one. He thinks "America first". American Catholics chose Trump, not Kamala Harris.

Trump showed a picture of himself like a pope. Some people didn't like it. Trump said it was a joke.

Trump said he was happy for Leo and that it was a big honor that the new pope was from America.

Pope Leo is like a leader and a politician. He is calm and talks to small groups of other church leaders before a big meeting. He was born in Chicago but lived in Peru for many years. In 2023, he started a new job at the Vatican. He helps choose new bishops.

Other popes talked about world problems. For example, Pope John Paul II helped end communism. But Pope Leo already said bad things about a Catholic politician in America. Pope Leo does not agree with the government about people moving to the country and caring for the world.

This happened after Vance, who is Catholic, talked about people coming to the country. He said, "First, love your family. Then, love your neighbors. After that, love your town. Then, love your country. Last, care about people in other countries."

Leo spoke in Italian to many people. He said the church must work together. We must build connections and welcome everyone.

He said the church is very old and important. It is more important than politics.

They were like bishops. They taught about good news. They helped people who were poor and suffering.

People say Leo lived in Peru for many years. He is a citizen of Peru too. This helps him understand people and ideas better.

Leo and Trump are different. Leo wants to help people who need it most. Trump stopped helping. Leo did not talk about his American family. He did not speak English. Some people think this shows he cares about people all over the world.

Leo is the first pope from the U.S. He is the second pope from the Americas. Pope Francis was the first pope from the Americas. This is important because it shows that the Americas are important.
