Meta is putting $14.3 billion into an AI company called Scale. They have also hired Scale's CEO, Alexandr Wang, to work on Meta's advanced AI team. This is part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make Meta's AI better so it can compete with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will stay independent, but this agreement will greatly increase their business connection, giving Meta almost half of Scale. Wang will move to Meta with a small group but will still be on Scale's board, and Jason Droege will take over as temporary CEO. This investment shows that Scale is now worth more than $29 billion. It's not clear what this deal will mean for Scale's other clients, such as General Motors, Toyota, and other companies that make large language models.
