Meta is putting $14.3 billion into the AI company Scale and has hired its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to work on Meta's advanced AI team. This is part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make Meta's AI better so it can compete with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will stay an independent company, but this agreement will greatly increase the business connection between the two companies, giving Meta almost half of Scale. Wang will move to Meta with a small team but will stay on Scale's board, and Jason Droege will become the temporary CEO. This investment means Scale is worth more than $29 billion. It's not clear what this deal will mean for Scale's other customers, like General Motors, Toyota, and several big language model companies.
